Nothing here remains where it was: dunes migrate, paths erase themselves, and reference points dissolve beneath wind and sand.

Amkhar represents impermanence made physical. Survival depends not on endurance alone, but on navigation, memory, and attentiveness. The land does not resist movement — it is movement.

Landscape & Physical Form

The terrain is fluid and unreliable.

Life in the Amkhar Desert is sparse and highly specialized.

Mirror Shards

Scattered throughout the Amkhar Desert are Mirror Shards — glass-like crystalline fragments formed when resonance draws debris from the Mirror World and distorts it through time and space.

Shards fall across Wendmor, but in Amkhar they are uniquely visible.
Sandstorms periodically strip away surface layers, exposing shards that glint briefly in direct sunlight before being reburied or carried away.

Each shard is singular, containing distorted imagery of the Mirror World that cannot be decoded or extracted. Their value lies in form, clarity, and the personal meanings others project onto them. Across Wendmor, Mirror Shards are collected as curios, talismans, or objects of quiet fascination.

The window to find them is short.

Human Relationship

Most clans avoid the Amkhar Desert except when forced.

Travel relies on experience rather than routes. Paths cannot be trusted, and fixed landmarks rarely endure. Camps are temporary, and mistakes are not punished immediately — they are punished by the slow removal of reference points.

The Kharu, whose lands border the desert, are among the few who move through Amkhar deliberately. They traverse the sands after storms, reading terrain, wind, and light to locate newly exposed Mirror Shards. Their familiarity with timing, angle, and movement allows them to reach glistening points before the desert reclaims them.

Others could attempt the same. Few do.
